NOC LEVEL 2 ENGINEER | KUALA LUMPUR LOCATION | PERMANENT

What is This Job all about?

NOCs are responsible for monitoring the telecommunication network for alarms or certain conditions that may require special attention to avoid impact on the network's performance. For example, in a telecommunications environment, NOCs are responsible for monitoring for power failures, communication line alarms (such as bit errors, framing errors, line coding errors, and circuits down) and other performance issues that may affect the network. NOCs analyse problems, perform troubleshooting, communicate with site technicians and other NOCs, and track problems through resolution. If necessary, NOCs escalate problems to the appropriate personnel. For severe conditions that are impossible to anticipate – such as a power failure or optical fiber cable cut – NOCs have procedures in place to immediately contact technicians to remedy the problem. Position Profile:

Profile Summary
The candidate will be responsible for provide ongoing 24x7 proactive operational monitoring and support to the Customer’s mobile WiMax network throughout Malaysia utilizing industry standard framework Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) methods and procedures. 

Position Requirements
Essential:
·   Three/Four plus years of experience in IT / Telecom / Banking industry
·   Comprises skills for both IP (Cisco) and Radio Network Element Operations
·   Good experience in daily Data Center operations and Servers Administration
·   Good experience in Desktop, Internet & Server security
·   Comprises skills Internet Gateway Router, Firewall Services Module, Application Control Engine, Catalyst 6509, Catalyst 4948, DHCP/DNS Hardware Server, Bridgewater AAA Server, Home Agent Chassis etc
·   Experience in Access Service Node, IMS-Core, PSTN-Interworking
·   Experience in Load balancer ( F5),F5 DNS, Squid/Bluecoat proxy, ACS server
·   Understanding of L3 Aggregation Router
·   Ability to work on shift

Preferred:
·   CISCO Certification (CCNA, CCNP, etc) 
Role & Responsibilities


·         NOC L2 Engineer shall be the single point of contact for incident reporting. L2 will employ the PNOC Service Delivery Platform (PSDP) to track, manage and co-ordinate for resolution of all incidents and problems arising in Network.
·         L2 Engineer will receive and address network related incidents from customer call center.
·         L2 Engineer shall customize and maintain all PNOC process documentation.
·         Answer complex technical queries related to the network configuration and operation.
·         L2 Engineer will monitor, manage, configure and report on service level metrics and abnormal events or trends of the Network that may adversely affect the availability, capacity, performance.  L2 Engineer is responsible for monitoring the service quality information received from the Performance Management System. It will monitor the normal performance, and also apply appropriate thresholds against service quality performance and report threshold crossing events.
·         Deliver services defined in PNOC section of the Operations Handbook.
·         Work with Implementation and Operational Readiness PM to accept network element(s) into Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
·         Execute daily backup of all Network elements configuration to centralized CMDB.
·         Execute daily physical and logical configuration revision management.
·         Execution of operational reports.
·         License management and reporting on License usage levels and license term for PNOC/IP Core applications.
·         Perform escalations as required to other operators related to interconnect issues as per agreed escalation process.
·         Provide minimum level of technical information to Cisco and Other Vendor’s support organizations when creating trouble tickets as agreed and documented in the Operational handbook during Transition Phase kick-off workshops.
·         Provide Cisco and Other Vendor’s support organizations remote secure access to Network to assist troubleshooting activities.
·         Provide ongoing new staff and new Customer technical staff operational process and communication plan training.
